Once upon a time I remember there were such computers (or not even computers:) — ZX Spectrum . And I even remember, it seems to me, them. In any case, I remember their Soviet clones — " Robik ", " Orizon-micro "...
The ZX Spectrum was the most popular computer of the 1980s in Europe. Thanks to its low price, more than a million of these machines had been sold within 17 months of their launch.
They were used mainly for games (at least, that’s what it shopify website design seemed to me during my childhood) or creating simple programs (the built-in “BASIC” helped with this).
I played on this ZX Spectrum only a few times, but of course it was memorable for the rest of my life. It was my very first touch with computer technology.
And so the other day I decided to find out - is it possible to somehow play those first games on my computer? At first I decided to look for some emulator, but unfortunately, most of them are only available as "shervar", to which for some reason I have a "feeling of acute antipathy". And besides, I don't really like these emulators - in addition to the lack of full functionality, they have big problems with compatibility with hardware.
Well, here it is... It turns out that in order to kill your thirst for nostalgia, all you need is the Internet and a browser:
Over 5,500 ZX Spectrum games available for any computer with a Java-enabled browser. The JX-Speccy site, although not updated for over five years, is probably the largest collection of games of this type. Try it out !
I couldn't play with Firefox... Internet Explorer showed "all the beauty" of ZX Spectrum games... I played for a few minutes the games of my deep childhood. I won't play them anymore. Nostalgia evaporated almost instantly...
